History

Our Beginnings
A group of women gathered in 1976 to form an organization to address needs in the Las Vegas community. Until early 2025, the organization was known as Assistance League of Las Vegas. But as we approach the 50th year of serving our beloved community, we have recently updated our name to Assisting Lives in Las Vegas to better reflect what we do. Our name and logo may have changed but not our purpose or mission. We remain an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with no paid staff.

Chapter Facility
In 1996, our organization received a grant from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation to build a state-of-the-art Chapter Facility. The grant required that we raise monies to pay off our land and establish a Building Endowment Fund to maintain the building in the future. A very successful Capital Campaign was held to accomplish this requirement. In August of 1998, the building was completed and given the name, Chapter Facility. Our organization finally had a physical presence in the Las Vegas community and for the first time all of our philanthropic programs, our Thrift Shop as well as meeting rooms and administrative offices were housed in one location.

Our Members Are Our Strength
Since the 90’s the look of our organization has changed. We are now comprised of men and women as well as teenagers. Members volunteer their time and skills during the day through our many philanthropic programs and fundraising events/activity. Desert Sage Auxiliary gives members with limited weekday hours the opportunity to volunteer on the weekends and in the evenings. Our Volunteens Auxiliary teaches leadership and fundraising skills as well as offering volunteer opportunities to students in grades 7th through 12th.
